Application screenupdating false

When the cells are merged in row 10, the row height has to be manually adjusted when the text changes.

That works well, as long as you remember to do it, but it can be a nuisance, if the text changes frequently.

Note: As Jeff Weir pointed out in the comments below, this code will wipe out the Undo stack, so you won’t be able to undo any steps you’ve previously taken. Column Width Merge Width = 0 For Each c M In Auto Fit Rng c M. Column Width Merge Width Next 'small adjustment to temporary width Merge Width = Merge Width Auto Fit Rng.

So, instead of using the Worksheet_Change event, you could use the workbook’s Before Print event, to reduce the Undo problem.

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(By Val Target As Range) Dim Merge Width As Single Dim c M As Range Dim Auto Fit Rng As Range Dim CWidth As Double Dim New Row Ht As Double Dim str01 As String str01 = "Order Note" If Not Intersect(Target, Range(str01)) Is Nothing Then Application.

Screen Updating = False On Error Resume Next Set Auto Fit Rng = Range(Range(str01).

There is also an updated version of Smallman’s code in this December 2015 blog post.] The merged cells are named Order Note, and that name will be referenced in the event code. We want the row height to adjust if the Order Note range is changed, so we’ll add code to the Worksheet_Change event. The code that I use is based on an old Excel newsgroup example, that was posted by Excel MVP, Jim Rech. I keep getting the 'do you want to save changes' prompts which disrupts the flow of the program, as it is supposed to be 'hands free'. Display Alerts = False The main thing I can't wrap my head around is why it suddenly stopped working as intended. Happens sometimes - I've noticed it more in Word than Excel and never figured the reason for it.this is the part of the code in question: I also have included the following at the beginning of my script. To avoid it, set the Saved Flag True before closing, that'll prevent the warning as you're telling Excel the workbook has not been changed since last save.
